a resource for students and teachers.
Techniques looks at the methods and technology of creating web-based student content using the written word, imagery, audio and video production. It is a practical guide to digital storytelling that draws on my projects and experiences as an intermediate teacher using multimedia in the classroom. Our Cayoosh Kidz website reflects much of the work that I do with students, using new media to promote literacy skills.
The Website - Content Central
Our Cayoosh Kidz website is the locus of our new media enterprise. A website doesn’t need to be complicated. The website is where people come to find the location of our digital content. The simplest way to manage content is to produce and store it on a third party website such as Flickr. Once you have the content in place you post the links to that content on your web pages. For example, we keep our videos on TeacherTube and our pictures on Flickr. It is much easier and it provides a better looking product to do this, unless you have the skills to build and manage a sophisticated website.
Four Media Types
There are four media types: text, images, audio, and video. You can simplify your web presence by just creating a media rich blog with all the media types. Techniques explores easy ways to develop content of all media types under the topics Written Word, Images, Sound, and Video.
